You will create a 16x16 abstract paintings ready to hang on your wall while you learn the principals of abstract design and composition. Some of the mediums you will learn to use are acrylic paint, modelling paste, tissue paper, cheese cloth, burlap, stencils, buttons, string, etc. Bring your creativity and playful imagination.
Pre-requisite: Beginner Acrylic or Intro to Abstract or
1 year experience painting with acrylic

Beginner 1:
An Introduction to Mixed Media
Explore the many textural effects you can achieve
with acrylic on board. You will use acrylic paint and
acrylic medium while creating multiple layers of
colour, texture and design.
​
You will practice on a pre-textured surface (supplied) and you texture one surface yourself. You will go home with 2 paintings. You will paint layers of acrylic over the surface and will also learn techniques that enhance the textural quality. Learn the principals of design while looking and adding and playing with your abstract piece. Even if you've never tried abstract painting, this is the place to start. It is a very easy way to make a great looking abstract.

Beginner 2 (Mixed Media Mondays)

​In addition to the techniques you learn in beginner Mixed Media
you will also learn how to add collaged images to make them
look like part of the abstract. You will create 2 abstract collage paintings.​

1 year experience painting with acrylic Beginner Mixed Media is also recommended
